E-Cigarettes May Become a Healthy Alternative for Traditional Smokers

2025-03-25

In recent years, e-cigarettes, as a new nicotine intake method, have gradually entered the public eye. Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding e-cigarettes, a growing body of research suggests that e-cigarettes may offer a relatively healthier option for traditional smokers.

According to a research report released by Public Health England (PHE), e-cigarettes are about 95% less harmful than traditional cigarettes. The report points out that e-cigarettes produce aerosols by heating liquid nicotine, avoiding harmful substances such as tar and carbon monoxide produced during the combustion process of traditional tobacco, thereby significantly reducing the risk of smoking-related diseases.

A study by the American Heart Association (AHA) also showed that for long-term smokers, a complete switch to e-cigarettes can significantly improve cardiovascular health. After using e-cigarettes, the study participants showed significant improvements in blood pressure, heart rate and other indicators, and respiratory symptoms were alleviated.

In addition, e-cigarettes are also considered an effective smoking cessation aid. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that using e-cigarettes was nearly twice as successful in quitting smoking than traditional nicotine replacement therapies such as nicotine patches or chewing gum. Experts point out that e-cigarettes can not only meet the physiological needs of smokers for nicotine, but also alleviate psychological dependence by simulatingsmokingbehavior.
